The British Columbia Climate Action Tax Credit (BCCATC) has been cancelled as of April 1, 2025, along with the cancellation of the carbon tax itself. This means there will be no more quarterly BCCATC payments. While the CRA will still issue retroactive payments for previous benefit years, the last BCCATC payment was on April 4, 2025.
The BC government has eliminated the consumer carbon tax, effective April 1, 2025.

Retroactive Payments:
The CRA will continue to issue retroactive payments for the BCCATC for previous benefit years.
Federal Carbon Rebate:
Purchasers who paid carbon tax in error on fuel purchases (excluding natural gas) can apply for a refund if they have documentation and the refund is $10 or more.
- While the BCCATC is cancelled, you may still be eligible for the federal Canada Carbon Rebate.
- If you are a large industrial emitter, you can find information on reporting and paying taxes for fuel inventory on the Government of British Columbia website.
- If you believe you paid carbon tax in error, you can apply for a refund through the Government of British Columbia website.
